Let’s Do It Again In 2010!
In 2008 New
Mexicans did something that was absolutely monumental!
Democrats won all three races for the U.S. House of
Representatives and replaced our one Republican U.S. Senator
with a Democrat. Since we had also won every state-wide
election except Commissioner of Public Lands in 2006, our
state became about the “bluest” state in the nation. This
achievement was due largely to the fact that the electorate
was better informed than they had been in the past, and the
better informed the voters are, the more likely they are to
make sound decisions in the voting booth and vote for
Democrats.
The hard
work and important gains of 2006 and 2008 must continue.
New Mexicans need to continue paying attention year round to
what elected officials are doing and what candidates are
saying. Uninformed citizens tend to make excuses, saying
they are too busy with their daily lives to really pay much
attention, but we need to realize, as a society, that being
involved in our government is just as important as all the
tasks involved in our everyday lives. The decisions we make
as voters now affect the futures of our children, and it’s
our civil duty to hold our elected officials and candidates
accountable.
We have a
large number of good Democrats who are all looking to get
your vote, and ultimately the nomination for Lieutenant
Governor. I'm not worried about you researching all the
other candidates when making your decision about who to
support. In fact, I actually encourage you to
go to their web sites to
see what their plans are for New Mexico. I believe that the
better informed you are, the more likely you are to vote for
me. There are many candidates for you to choose from in
this race and the task may seem daunting, but it’s a task
that’s necessary in order to get the best possible
Lieutenant Governor for New Mexico. I encourage you to make
your decision as to who to support in this race an informed
one. And, whether you vote for me or one of my opponents,
get out there and have your voice heard!
